Subtle Edens ~ The Elastic Book of Slipstream
Tuesday, November 11th, 2008Subtle Edens, Elastic Press’s collection of unhinged spec fic was released this month and is available pretty much everywhere. Joshua Reynolds of The Fix - Short Fiction Review had this to say about the contribution written by DW: “D.Grîn, with “Nose Piercing,” spins us a story about puppets with a side order of satire. But the latter is light and never hammered home as it is elsewhere. Instead, we’re given a choice of targets and never led directly to any of them as the story comes to a gory (splintery?) ending in fine, action-cinema tradition. There’s a hint of Harlan Ellison in this one—it berates, but uncertainly, as if unsure of whether to champion the rebel or the rebelled against.”
Anyway, it’s a beautiful and fascinating book, well worth your ducats..
